My Backyard in the Orion Nebula

nebula_backyard2

Call me an adult with an overactive imagination, a dreamer or a delusional geek but sometimes I just can’t help but wonder … What would my backyard look like if Earth was a little closer to the Orion Nebula?

Ah, now that’s worth pulling out the deck chairs and a pondering over a tequila sunrise.

Hubble’s Sharpest View of the Orion Nebula:
The Orion Nebula is a cavern of tumultuous gas and dust where thousands of stars are forming. The energy released by the young stars transforms their place of birth, whipping their surroundings into fantastic forms.

    I guess I'm pretty lucky living out of the city lights and on the side of a small mountain. We get beautiful views of the stars and the Milkyway each clear night. However, wouldn't this view be grand!

    @Claire
    Yeah, me too ... I guess I can dream

    @Cybasumo
    lol, well, I would probably be scared but the awesome nature of the scene would make me soon forget my anxiety. Besides, I've always wanted to be an astronaut explorer ... I'd be the first to sign up for a chance to set foot on the Red Planet ;-)
  • wow! looking at this photo makes me feel scared, why cause thinking what if my backyard is like that!? i rather prefer that it will be like japanese gardens with cherry blossoms in it! i might love it forever!
  • What a view, I would love to spend the night gazing up at that :)

  • Dale,
    That's a very cool photo mash-up. I'm a big fan of the Hubble photos too. Unfortunately here in light-polluted Chicago we've got a pretty blank canvas for a sky.
