“A heart well worth winning, and well won. A heart that, once won, goes through fire and water for the winner, and never changes, and is never daunted.” - Charles Dickens

I’ve never participated in one of Graham’s Photo Challenges. For the month of July he states that
“Food” as the photograph challenge theme for July. The interpretations are endless…. it could be a photograph of your favourite meal (if it is, then be sure to include the recipe in your post!), or it could be a photograph of a fruit/vegetable or even a favourite drink…. the world is literally your oyster!!
Some of my favorite photo bloggers have posted their entries in the Challenge and this inspired me to do the same. I tried for ages to get just the right shot of instant noodles, frozen chicken nuggets and BBQ Shapes but just couldn’t get the right artistic angle.
After spending hours laboring over the angles and food placement, I wiped the sweat from my brow, cracked open a beer and contemplated a vegemite and toast snack. That’s when the inspiration muse struck! I had the photo right there in my hands … beer and vegemite. What more could I want? Using some creative 7 degrees of separation logic, I reckon that with some beer and vegemite you cover all the food groups and meet most of your dietary requirements.
So, I present my interpretation of Graham’s July Photo Challenge - Food.

Well, It’s been one helluva week for global communications at my house. First my computer decided to chew up the operating system and spit it back out on the screen in convenient little chunks. I decided to reformat one of the hard drives and install an Ubuntu Linux derivative, Mint as an additional operating system. Usually I’m a Zenwalk man but I got irritated with always running into good Ubuntu software repositories and very little for Zenwalk. I also couldn’t get the Raw Photo plugin for GIMP to work in Zenwalk for some reason.
Anyways, that’s pretty geeky stuff. I know most would be completely uninterested in it. Let’s just say the computer is working on all levels at the moment. Whew! I then decided to upgrade my Wordpress installation on my server. I know, I must be a real glutton for punishment. I stared the upgrade and left for work this morning expecting the files to upload and all be sweet. I’ve done this many times before. Here again, the electron gods were not smiling on me. I got to work and hit my site only to notice that there was nothing there! Nada! Not a single line of code or anything!
OK, so that’s all sorted now. For this week’s Creative Photo, I’m gonna appease those Electron Gods and produce a real virtual Global Village suspended in Cyberspace. Hope this changes my luck!
On a side note … see the circuit board in that photo? It’s no longer causing me any troubles
Here’s this weeks Weekend Snapshot. Between running around with the fam and rebuilding my computer, I didn’t take many photos. However, Willow and I did run down to the park on Saturday morning. The sun was out for the first time in several weekends and she enjoyed getting out of the house.
It wasn’t until I returned home and downloaded the images that I noticed the sun rays and halo effects on these images.
On Saturday night, both my young’uns were invited to a disco party for an 11 year old friend. Juniper had a grand ol’ time to very loud music, bad acoustics in the boy scout hall, flashing lights, a smoke machine and flickering necklaces. My youngest wanted to have a good time but I think she was just too little to appreciate the loud chaos that erupted. Before we (the old farts) ducked out of the party with the little one and went for a nice dinner, I took a few snaps of the disco divas in action. They came out better than I expected.
I participate in Second Shotz, a great Flickr group that promotes creative editing with each other’s photos. Each week one member is chosen to submit a photo for editing by the other group members. Last week, I submitted a photo of my little Willow basking on a grassy knoll.

There were ten published edits of Willow on the knoll. They were all great and we (Willow and I) had a blast looking to see what each had done to ‘Willow’
Here are my top three Willow edits from the week:

My number three choice was Broken Perfection’s edit of Willow’s photo. I liked the addition of the vibrant sky. It added some color and energy to the shot.

My second favorite was from BenSpark. I thought this was down right creative and very very cute. Great shot of the sunflowers too.

And Numero Uno goes to _peteej_ who came up with this amazing edit. I’m not sure if I’d like Willow pitched out of a plane over the ocean but I know she’d have a blast. I actually showed her this photo and she got a big kick out of it. The next question she asked was when could she go jump outta theplane!
As you can see, we have a lot of fun participating in this group. If you’d like to see more and join in the fun, jump on over to Second Shotz.
A couple of days ago I posted a mystery photo with the title Guess What I did on Saturday? For today’s Weekend Snapshot, I can reveal to all who didn’t peek at my flickr stream my Saturday activity:
The girls and I popped through the automatic car wash. I know, that sounds really exciting. Willow was having a good time watching all the brushes go past her window however, Juniper was not so interested.
