The Harbinger

2008-8-14_cherry_blossum

Here’s my Wordless Wednesday (well almost wordless and it’s actually Friday now). Although it doesn’t feel like it, spring is on its way to Oz. This is a shot I took yesterday of an ornamental cherry tree that hangs across the drive way. I was on my way to the shops in the rain, when I noticed that the tree had blossomed. I quickly pulled out the tripod and camera and took a couple of snaps before me and the gear got soaked.

So THAT’S what my tree is! I told the kiddos it was a crab apple tree, it certainly isn’t. Those look exactly like what was on the tree out front this spring for us! It’s a great shot, with the cold colors in the background, the flowers really pop. :)

Lovely shot of the blooms :) Cherry blossoms are well loved by the Chinese, especially during the festive season during the lunar new year. Most homes are filled with them.

    Have a good weekend Dale!!
