Doodle Evael here … and I’m bustin outta this joint. I’m comin’ to ya right now. Surfin that ultrafast electron superhighway right into your head. I’ll be lurkin’ in there till the wee hours of the morn when I’ll oooze out and run rampant in your dreams. Or maybe not. I might just wait until your sittin at yourn desk at work then I’ll pop outta your eyes and dance like Bill just to give ya a little jerk to let you know I’m still here … then I’ll wait till another time to infect your subconscious. I like muckin round in there … connectin this bit and that bit untl I create a brand new one fer ya … ya, that’s it I’m kinda like that Dr whatshisname fer yer subconscious??// ….

Here I am all Doodled up and ready to go. I suspect I’ll have about a 7 month cruise before getting to Mars. Spend about 9 months on the planet bouncing around, exploring lava caves and sifting for precious metals before jumping back in my ride and taking another 8 or 9 months to retun to good ol’ Earth. Anyone wanna come along?

This is my Thursday Doodle for Doodle Week. If you haven’t guessed, today’s theme is Doodle Vacation.

Doodle Week is here again! Like last time, we have some doodle themes for this week:

I’ve spent the majority of the past three days at the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency annual Conference. It was a fantastic conference and well worth the time spent. Today was the last day and during a very moving presentation this doodle materialised on my notebook.

What I saw emerging as I was doodling was a storm cloud with torrential rain and hail. I added a stylized sun. From under the devestation of the storm, flowers persevere and shine in the sun.

I scanned the doodle in Kooka, traced the paths using Inkscape and then added the color with the GIMP (all opensource software freely available for download).

Well, sadly, this is the last day of Doodle Week. I’ve been flat out like a lizard drinkin with work but that assisted in my collection of doodles. The final theme of the week is Doodle Mad, and yes, many of us have gone Doodle Mad over the past week. I’ll reserve any comment about the meaning of my last doodle. The psychoanalysis of my workplace doodles from other’s has been much more entertaining

I’d like to thank Claire for her support and promotion of Doodle week and Mark for his humorous insight and wit. Also, there’s now a great collection of Doodles in the Flickr Doodle Week group worth checking out and the Stickfiguregirl website contains most of the Doodle Week community.

Today’s Doodle Week theme is an Abstract Doodle. I think the majority of my doodles created while in meetings at work are abstract. This doodle was created on the header of a blank page of my note book. I think the meeting was about my budget. I reckon any long winded discussion about budget drives one to abstraction.

I’ve scanned the image and then laid in some color for nice effect. If you’re interested in all the details behind using opensource software to design and edit images, check out this post a couple of days ago.

In the grand scheme of Doodle Week today’s theme is a Doodle phone book scribble or a doodle day dream.

Do you ever have those days where you think that things could not possibly get worse … then it does? It gets this way at work sometimes. I was in this frame of mind when I created today’s doodle.

This was a rather small doddle and after scanning, the felt tip pen I was using created a very interesting image texture. Like all the doodles featured here in doodle week, I scanned the doodle from notes I have taken during work. I use Linux Zenwalk as my operating system (no MS or Apple ware here).

I scan using Kooka opensource scan software. I then import the scan into Inkscape SVG Vector Illustrator. Inkscape is similar to Adobe illustrator except it’s free. In Inkscape I quickly trace the path of the drawing converting it to a vector image. This smooths the lines as well as allow me to scale it up without losing lots of detail.

I then export the vectored image as a png file and open it using the GIMP image manipulation program. Gimp is similiar to photoshop, and again, it’s free (I have a couple of GIMP tutorials on the site if you’re interested).

With the GIMP I add the color and/or remove some of the text from my notes that crept in close to the image. This sounds like a lot of work but it’s actually very quick to scan, vector and process.

Day three of Doodle Week. Today’s theme is a favorite doodle animal. I seem to have a few that get regularly doodled so I thought, as I was at work, that I’d use an idea that popped up as a result of my Doodle Monster. A few commented that my doodle monster looked more like a squashed totem pole.

Well, here today are my doodle beasts reassembled into a Doodle Totem Pole. Please excuse the errant notes that crept into the doodle
