I hear the train a comin’
it’s rolling round the bend
and I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when,
I’m stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin’ on
but that train keeps a rollin’ on down to San Anton..
When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,
always be a good boy, don’t ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
now every time I hear that whistle I hang my head and cry..
I bet there’s rich folks eating in a fancy dining car
they’re probably drinkin’ coffee and smoking big cigars.
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can’t be free
but those people keep a movin’
and that’s what tortures me…
Well if they’d free me from this prison,
if that railroad train was mine
I bet I’d move just a little further down the line
far from Folsom prison, that’s where I want to stay
and I’d let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away…..
-Folsom Prison Blues, Johnny Cash

On my last day of holiday, I decided to take a solitary photo safari. Not far from my house there’s a great little historic steam railway that runs through the Dandenong Ranges, the Puffing Billy. I took a stroll down the tracks of the Puffing Billy knowing that at some point, I’d meet the steam engine either coming or going.
The tracks wind through some great Mountain Ash and Fern Tree temperate rain forest complete with several species of brightly colored parrots. I captured the Puffing Billy as she rounded a bend alongside both the Ash and Tree Ferns. I liked this shot cause it helped put these Mountain Ash into perspective. These are massive trees, some can reach 45 feet (15m) girth and almost 300 feet (100m) tall. They are the worlds tallest flowering plant.
I got some interesting picts along the tracks, some of them are posted on my flickr account.
Today, I’ll be taking Willow to the park as soon as I finish this post so, no doubt, I’ll get some cute shots of her today too
Have a great weekend.

Ever wonder what public transport in space will be like?

The largest, most violent star forming region known in the whole Local Group of galaxies lies in our neighboring galaxy the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). Were the Tarantula Nebula at the distance of the Orion Nebula — a local star forming region — it would take up fully half the sky. Also called 30 Doradus, the red and pink gas indicates a massive emission nebula, although supernova remnants and dark nebula also exist there. The bright knot of stars left of center is called R136 and contains many of the most massive, hottest, and brightest stars known. The above image taken with the European Southern Observatory’s (ESO’s) Wide Field Imager is one of the most detailed ever of this vast star forming region. ESO has made it possible to fly around and into this detailed image by clicking here.
